BlackPulse defeats RealDiamonds 9-5 in Finals

The 2023 National Women’s Baseball Tournament, which opened on 9 September in Uljin-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, concluded on 16 September with the Yanggu Blackpulse winning the title.

Co-hosted by Uljin-gun and the Korea Baseball Softball Association (KBSA), and co-organised by the Women’s Baseball Association of Korea (WBAK) and the Uljin-gun Baseball Softball Association, 18 teams and 650 players from across the country travelled to Uljin-gun to participate in the tournament.

In the long-awaited final match held on the 16th, the Yanggu Blackpulse defeated the Seoul RealDiamonds 9-5 to win the title. The Seoul RealDiamonds finished a disappointing runner-up, while the Pocheon Red Foxes took third place.

In the individual awards, Oh Eui-boon was named Most Valuable Player (MVP), Lee Sun-hee was named Pitcher of the Year, Won Hye-ryeon was named Pitcher of the Year, and Lee Ah-rim (formerly of the Yang-gu Blackpulse) was named Manager of the Year. Kang Jeong-hee won the batting award, Choi Yeon-woo (Real Diamons) took home the catching award, and Lee Im-hyun (Pocheon Red Foxes) took home the beauty award.

Uljin-gun issued “Uljin Love Cards” to the women’s baseball teams participating in the tournament as a participation subsidy. The teams used the ‘Uljin Love Card’ for accommodation, meals, sightseeing, and transport during their stay in Uljin County, and the local specialities such as squid, wakame seaweed, and honey, which were given as prizes, were very well received by the teams and officials.

Meanwhile, the players who won the best player, best pitcher, and best batting awards at the National Women’s Baseball Tournament organised by the Korea Women’s Baseball Federation will receive custom gloves provided by Burton Custom, a brand specialising in personalised gloves.
