The ‘chaser’s cold shoulder’ is the complement… Crazy defence, a hit, and the tying run [Kwak Kyung-hoon on the field].

Shin Min-jae led off the third inning with a single to third base on a 135km pitch from Park Jong-hoon. Shin’s quick feet played a role in the hit.

In his second at-bat, in the top of the fifth inning, he took nine pitches before striking out. In his third at-bat, in the top of the sixth inning, he lined a single to right field against reliever Lim Jun-seop.

With two outs in the top of the sixth, SSG Choi Joo-hwan’s throwing error on Hong Chang-gi’s grounder to the first baseman allowed LG to score two runs and advance Shin Min-jae to second base. LG pulled within two runs at 6-4.

However, Lim Jun-seop’s strong throw to second base threw out Shin Min-jae. It was a cold shower in a situation where the momentum had been taken by the chase.

“It’s easy to shake off (the situation). But it’s not good to be in that situation. I think I’ll remember it more for what I didn’t do than what I did well.”

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Shin Min-jae came in to defend and made a perfect throw to first base after catching Kim Min-sik’s grounder with no outs. With two outs, he made a perfect catch of Choi Joo-hwan’s well-hit line drive to second base for the final two outs.

He wiped out his disappointment in the sixth inning with his defence and came up with the bases loaded in the top of the eighth to hit a single for his first career three-hit game, and later celebrated with his teammates when Hong Chang-ki tied the game with a single.

Kim Hyun-soo’s RBI single gave them the lead, and Moon Bo-kyung’s RBI single in the top of the ninth drove in the winning run for an 8-6 victory.

Shin Min-jae met with the media after the game and said of her three-hit game, “I knew it. I had two or three chances to get a three-hit game last time, but I didn’t get a hit, so I wasn’t disappointed, but it feels good to get three hits today.”

With his three-hit game, LG’s Shin Min-jae raised his season average to .307 with one hit, one run, two doubles and one triple.
