토스카지노 The prestigious PEC United Under-12 (U-12) team won the 2023 Hwarangdae National Youth Football Tournament, its second trophy of the season.
Led by head coach Song Young-min, PEC United finished first in Group 7 in the first round of pool play in Gyeongju, South Korea, from Nov. 11-17, marking their second consecutive group title after winning the U-11 title last year. In addition, the U-11 team won its second title of the season after winning the Geumseokbae Elementary School Football Tournament (July).
PEC United got off to a good start, defeating Yongin Teamstar and Jeonbuk United 2-1 and 1-0, respectively, in the preliminary round of the tournament, which was postponed by one game due to the effects of Typhoon Kanun. They then lost to Incheon Bupyeongcho 1-0 to tie Yongin Team Star with 2 wins and 1 loss, but finished first on fair play points to advance to the top spot in Group 7.
In the first match of the finals between the top teams in each group, PEC United conceded an early goal to traditional powerhouse Seoul Daedongcho, but Jang Dae-gun scored a fantastic mid-range strike to draw 1-1.
In the second match against Daegu University Youth FC, the team won 4-2 with goals from Jang Dae-gun and Kim Jun-sung in the first half and Kim Si-yoon and Kim Jun-sung in the second half, and in the final match against Yongin Bluewings, the team scored back-to-back goals from Joo Eun-chan and additional goals from Kim Jun-sung and Nam Hyo-yoon to end the first half with a 4-1 lead.
Continuing their offense in the second half, PEC United won 7-1 with a multi-goal performance from substitute Cho Sung-won and another from Kim Si-yoon to draw level with Daedongcho at two wins and one loss, but Daedongcho took the lead in fair play points due to a negative score for accumulated cautions.
“I think it was the support and encouragement of the players, coaching staff, and parents that made it possible for us to perform despite the typhoon and hot weather,” said PEC United head coach Song Young-min. “It is even more meaningful that the win was achieved with all players playing evenly with positive coaching based on the right character and good sportsmanship.”
