‘No. 1 in winning percentage in June’ didn’t just happen…The bats are coming alive → Wizards win back-to-back games, spurt in first half

바카라사이트It was the second day in a row that they came from behind. The team with the highest win percentage in June shone.

KT Wiz won 7-6 against the NC Dinos in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at KT Wiz Park in Suwon on 1 June.

The game went back and forth. NC took the early lead. In the top of the first inning, Son As-seop singled and Park Min-woo doubled to put runners on second and third with no outs. Park Geon-woo’s grounder to the second baseman brought Son home. Park advanced to third on a wild pitch. Jason Martin followed with a sacrifice fly to score a run.

KT tied the game in the third. Kim Sang-soo walked and Ahn Chi-young singled to put runners on first and second. Anthony Alford, who came up to bat, smashed a home run over the left-centre fence. It was a big home run with a distance of 130 metres.

NC came back in the top of the fourth inning with back-to-back RBI singles by Park Se-hyuk and Kim Joo-won. With runners on first and third, Park Min-woo’s grounder to the second baseman scored a run. In the top of the fifth, Seo Ho-cheol hit a one-run home run to extend the lead to 6-3.

But once again, KT levelled the score. This time, Moon Sang-chul swung the bat. Park Byung-ho singled and Hwang Jae-gyun followed with an infield single to put runners on first and second. Kang Hyun-woo singled, but Oh Yoon-seok walked to load the bases with two outs. Moon Sang-chul came to the plate and hit a four-seam fastball from Cho Min-seok over the left-centre fence to make it 6-6.

With the score tied at 6-6, KT had the last laugh in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Ahn Chi-young singled and Alford followed with an infield single to put runners on first and second. Park Byung-ho came to the plate and took advantage of Lee Yong-chan’s first-pitch fork. The ball sailed into left field, scoring Ahn Chi-young from second and giving KT a 7-6 victory.

For the second straight day, KT came from behind to win its second straight game. In the 30 June meeting, they gave up two runs in the third inning to drop the game, but Park Kyung-soo’s RBI double in the seventh inning started the comeback, and Park Byung-ho and Hwang Jae-gyun followed with RBI singles in the eighth. Kim Jae-yoon, who took the mound in the top of the ninth, retired the next three batters to end the game.

KT, which was at the bottom of the standings with 16 wins, two draws and 29 losses through May, has shown a different side since June. They went 15-8 in June with a winning percentage of 0.652. They also climbed to seventh place in the standings.

KT’s batting is coming alive. In May, KT’s team batting average was 0.246, ranking eighth out of 10 teams. Last month, however, KT took the top spot with a team batting average of 0.282. The starting pitching has also changed. In May, the starting staff had a 5.62 ERA, the highest in the KBO. However, their ERA in June was 3.64, the third lowest behind the Kiwoom Heroes (2.61) and Hanwha Eagles (3.64).

KT came alive in June with its starting pitching and batting. They won their first game in July with a walk-off hit. There are 10 games left before the end of the first half. It will be interesting to see if KT can capitalise on their current momentum and finish the first half on a high note.
