Another major league first? Kyle Schwarber (30, Philadelphia Phillies) has reached 40 home runs with a 1-for-1 slugging percentage.

The Phillies hosted the San Diego Padres on April 5 at Petco Park in San Diego, California, USA.

Schwarber, who started in left field for the Phillies, went 2-for-3 with a home run, his 40th of the season, a double, three RBIs, three runs scored, and three walks in the team’s 9-7 victory.

메이저놀이터Schwarber had already done his part with a walk in the first inning, a single to center field in the second, and a walk in the fourth before hitting a solo shot over the right field fence off Matt Waldron in the fifth.

It was his third home run of the month and second in as many games. The home run gave Schwarber 40 homers on the season. It’s his second straight 40-homer season after hitting 46 last year.

The problem is Schwarber’s batting average. Even with the multi-hit game, he’s hitting just .193. In 137 games this season, he has only 18 games with a batting average over .200.

The last time Schwarber had a double-digit batting average was on May 3, when he hit exactly .200 in 110 at-bats with 22 hits.

Since then, Schwarber’s batting average has remained in the single digits. A 1.200 batting average and 40 home runs is a first in major league history.

Of course, Schwarber will need to keep his batting average in the teens for the rest of the season to finally achieve the record. It takes a bad season to break a record.

Schwarber hit in the double digits in June and August, but it wasn’t enough to overcome his .115 mark in May. As a result, he’s still hitting in the low teens.

After leading the National League in home runs last year, it will be interesting to see if Schwarber, who has the power to reach 40 homers this season, can become a part of the record books in disgrace.
